FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

A. We work on an hourly and prorated basis, so you only pay for the time you need. We begin with a complimentary 20-minute phone consultation to learn about your situation and determine whether our services are a good fit. If we’re the right match, we’ll schedule an in-home comprehensive assessment to get started.

We are private pay; however, many long-term care policies include a care coordination benefit. We’re happy to provide the necessary documentation to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, or we can handle that for you.

A. Yes — we’ll ask you to sign a simple Agreement Form that clearly outlines the services we’ll provide for you or your loved one (including consultation), as well as what we ask of you as the client or client representative. There’s no long-term commitment required, and you’re free to cancel at any time with written notification.

A. Our preference is to engage early, when there is still time to think clearly, plan thoughtfully, and involve the older adult as an active participant in their own future. That said, we also work with clients and families who are already navigating an urgent situation and need guidance quickly.

A: Great question! Home Care Agencies are licensed through the state and provide hands-on personal care — helping with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and meal preparation (known as ADLs and IADLs). Aging Life Care Professionals, on the other hand, are credentialed through a rigorous vetting process by the Aging Life Care Association, which requires advanced education, professional experience, and a Certificate of Care Management (CMC).

Rather than providing personal care ourselves, we focus on the bigger picture — assessing needs, coordinating services, navigating the healthcare system, and ensuring your loved one receives the right care from the right providers. Think of us as the professional advocate and guide working alongside your home care agency, not in place of one.

A: Absolutely — and this is one of the most valuable things we do. We collaborate closely with your loved one’s existing physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals, keeping them informed that your loved one is under our care. This means their entire care team is on the same page, and nothing falls through the cracks.

We stay actively engaged — monitoring for any changes in medical status, medications, or treatment plans — and serve as the central point of communication so that you and your family always know what’s happening, even from a distance.

A. Staying connected is at the heart of what we do. We use a secure Care Management Data System that gives family members and physicians real-time access to your loved one’s profile, clinical notes, care updates, and more — no matter where you are in the world.

Think of it as a shared hub for your loved one’s entire care team. Everyone who needs to be in the loop — family, physicians, and care professionals — has visibility into what’s happening, creating a true system of checks and balances. You can have peace of mind knowing that nothing is happening in isolation and that your loved one’s care is always being actively monitored and documented.

A. This is one of the most common concerns we hear from families — and you’re not alone. Resistance is natural, and we’re experienced in approaching reluctant clients with patience, empathy, and respect for their autonomy. Often, once trust is established, acceptance follows. We’ll work with your family to find the gentlest path forward.
